nobackground.io Remove a background

Privacy policy

Last updated:

nobackground.io removes the background from photos in your browser. Your photos never leave your device. This page explains what the site does store and which third parties are involved.

Your photos stay on your device

The background is removed by an AI model that runs in your browser. The photo is not uploaded to any server and is not saved in IndexedDB or the Cache API. When you close or reload the page, it is gone.

We do not ask you to sign up, so we do not hold accounts, names or e-mail addresses of users.

AI models and site files cached in your browser

The first time you use the tool, your browser downloads the AI models from this site and also keeps the site's own files (code, fonts and pages) in its cache, so the next visits start faster and the tool can work without an internet connection. These files are the same for everyone and contain no personal data; your photos never go into this cache. You can remove everything by clearing the site data in your browser settings.

Preferences

If you choose the light or dark theme, the choice is saved in your browser (local storage) and used only to show the page the way you picked.

Anonymous usage statistics

To improve the interface, the site records which buttons and tabs are used, the page viewed, the window size, the language, the country, the campaign source of the link you came from (for example, utm_source) and technical errors. Events are tied to a random identifier that lasts only for your browser session, and to the version of the interface you were shown in layout tests (saved in local storage). We do not record your IP address, photos, file names or any image content, and there is no tracking across other sites. The events are stored in Cloudflare D1, and visits are also counted by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies. If your browser sends the Do Not Track signal, no usage event is recorded.

Cookies and Google ads

The site shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads, limit how often you see them, measure results and, where you allow it, personalize them. Google may use the data its cookies collect on this site under its own policy.

Learn how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

You can manage or turn off ad personalization in Google Ads Settings. In regions where the law requires it, such as the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, a consent message lets you choose before ads use cookies for personalization.

Hosting data

The site is delivered by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for delivery and security. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
